How we research and compare YouTube tools
Kavinto publishes comparisons of YouTube research tools, including our own. This page explains how we check prices and features, how we rank tools and how we fix mistakes.

Who writes these pages
Our comparison, alternatives and pricing articles are written by the team that builds Kavinto, a YouTube niche research tool. We compete with many of the tools we write about, so every article that includes Kavinto says so at the top, and Kavinto is marked "Our tool" wherever it appears.
How we check prices
- From the vendor's own pricing page. We never copy prices from review sites or other comparison lists.
- Viewed from the US. Several tools show different prices by country. We list the price shown in the US, and when a tool shows other prices elsewhere, the article says so.
- Both billing periods. Where a page offers monthly and yearly billing, we record both. If a page only describes a discount in words, such as "3 months free", we quote it instead of working out a price.
- No currency conversion. A tool that bills in euros is listed in euros, and we do not chart it against dollar prices.
- Dated and re-checked. Each article shows when its prices were checked. We re-check them every month, and the date on an article is the oldest check among the tools it covers.
How we describe features
We describe other tools only from their own public pages: pricing, feature pages, FAQs and documentation. Numbers a company publishes about itself are written as its own claim, for example "TubeLab says". Every article ends with a list of the pages we used, so you can check each claim.
We do not use paid accounts of other tools for comparisons. A hands-on review is only written after we have used the product ourselves, and it says which plan we used.
How we rank tools
Each article names the job it is about, such as choosing a niche or optimizing a channel you already run, and ranks tools by how well they cover that job. When Kavinto does that job it is included, and its weaknesses are listed next to its strengths, the same as every other tool.
We do not give star ratings or scores we cannot back up, and we do not add review or rating markup for other companies' products. Each article ends its comparison with the job each tool fits best.
Screenshots and charts
Pricing screenshots are taken from the vendor's public pricing page, viewed from the US. The caption gives the date and the billing view the page showed, and we keep the original capture of both billing views. Charts are drawn from the same price records as the tables, so a price is never different between a chart and the text.
What we don't do
- No company pays to be included or to be ranked higher.
- No affiliate links to other tools in these articles.
- No screenshots of other tools' paid dashboards unless we have used them for a review.
Corrections
If you spot a wrong price or claim, including on a page about your own product, email [email protected] with the page and what changed. We check it against the vendor's own page, correct the article and update its date.
